How To Clean And Fix A Hand Spinner

Fidget spinners bring endless fun to children and their parents alike. Like all things, proper care is essential to keep your toy from losing its edge. All it takes is a good clean and some know-hows on repairing a fidget spinner.
What Causes Hand Spinners To Stop Working?
When your spinner
-no longer spins at maximum speed
-spins noisily
-is quick to slow down
-gets stuck or stops working altogether
It can be due to:
-dirt or debris
-dust or other particles
-pocket lint
-rusty bearings
These elements tend to get trapped within the fidget spinner's bearing. The added friction causes the noisy, slower and shorter spinning times. Dirty and rusted parts can be thoroughly cleaned to look and spin well as new.

How To Clean Your Hand Spinner
What You Need:
Solvent - 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, paint thinner or brake cleaner
Drying Tool - Hair Dryer and/or a can of Compressed Air
Container - Big enough for your bearings to swish around
What To Do:
1. Pry off the spinner's bearing caps located at the center.
2. While your spinner is in action, aim the can of compressed air towards the bearings to blow minute particles away. Note that cans of compressed air are quite dangerous, so keep out of reach of children!
3. For dirtier spinners and a more thorough clean, pop the entire bearing out of your fidget spinner. Pre-soak rusty and stuck-up bearings in vinegar for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
4. Pour alcohol into the container then swish the bearing in the liquid in alternating spin directions.
5. Dry thoroughly using a hair dryer or simply air dry.
You may opt to soak your bearing in a stronger solvent like a paint thinner or brake cleaner. This will fix a stuck spinner and have it spinning smoothly again. If you wish to oil your hand spinner, use lighter types such as sewing machine oil rather than thicker oils that may only slow it down.
